meet Tricia - FringeGirl

This post is the ultimate de-lurking experience. I rarely even comment on Adding Zest topics for fear that my name will be linked to activities best left behind my closed bedroom door, so when I was asked to contribute to Adding Zest, I knew it was God.

My name is Tricia, but I am better known in blog-land as FringeGirl from The Domestic Fringe. I enjoy reading, writing, yard sales, spending time with my family and a good chocolate bar. Married for twelve years, my husband and I have been blessed with two beautiful children who keep us both on our knees and also on our toes.

After a whirlwind romance, my husband and I were married nine months after our first date, where I not only had to meet his mother, but also his ex-girlfriend. (For the full story, read FringeLove.) My husband, known mainly as FringeMan to protect our not-so-secret identities, was once a wildlife nuisance trapper who played in a hardcore band. Now he is an electrician turned preacher who cannot manage to escape the fire prevention business - electrical fires and hell's fires.

Our marriage has not been boring. We've lived in three states, moved seven times, fully renovated three homes, and weathered many of life's storms. Although some told my husband and I that we were too different to marry, God had other plans. He has used our differences to compliment each other and sometimes drive us crazily to the throne of grace.

Marriage has not been easy. In fact, it has required more work from both of us than we would have dreamed possible, but we know for certain that God brought us together and has a plan for our lives individually and as a couple.

I feel like I am the last person in world who should be contributing to this blog and that is why I know it is God's will for me. I too often get the glory for things that come naturally, but when it's a stretch - when I know only God can give me the words to encourage, help, and challenge - then God is the one who will receive all the glory.

Psalms 30:12

To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent.

O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

I am excited to see what God is doing through Adding Zest and look forward to reaping the benefits in my bedroom as you have fun in yours.

Just whatever you do, don't tell my mother I'm writing here! ;-)

Sorry, I commented earlier and used my wrong google sign in. ;0

It's so nice to welcome you here, Tricia! You describe exactly how I felt when asked to contribute over here. The wonderful thing is that we are all in different places and we can support and learn from each other, as well as encourage and teach!

Welcome, looking forward to getting to know you better :)

Thank you all for the kind welcome. I gotta admit that I'm still kind of nervous about writing here, but I'm sure I'll settle in. ;-)
