This month’s recipe is for those times when we Slow Cookers find ourselves needing a very quick warm up… like when we can look at our men tell what’s on their minds… but it hasn’t been on ours in days…or when they reach out to us in a certain way that lets us know what they’d like, and we are just plain exhausted or emotionally spent…Know what I’m talking about?
Sometimes when our Microwave Men need us, we’ve been so busy with “life” that our Crock Pots haven’t been plugged in all day. What’s a Slow Cooker to do?
Next time you find yourself in this situation, try this simple recipe. It’s quick, easy, and very, very effective.
Warming Up to Your Husband - the Quick Cook Method
Ingredients:
- You
- Jesus
When you know what’s coming, and you just aren’t in the mood, Say a quick 4 part prayer. This takes just a few seconds, and can be done without your husband having the slightest idea of what you are doing. ;-)
1. Pray that the Lord will help you get in the mood quickly. Ask Him to help you thrill to your husband’s touch and want to be intimate with him. Really look at your husband, think about those good traits that make him the man he is, and thank God for him.
2. Pray that this time together would be a blessing to your husband. Ask the Lord to help you satisfy him fully, and pray that he would be blessed and strengthened through your intimacy together.
3. Pray that this time together would be a blessing to YOU! (That's right... You!) Ask the Lord to help your husband satisfy you fully, and that you would be blessed and strengthened through your intimacy together.
4. Pray that this time together would be a blessing to God. Ask the Lord to be glorified through your intimacy with your husband. (Beware: when we ask God to glorify Himself through something, He will do it… and one day, you just might find yourself writing about it on a blog like Adding Zest!!! Ha ha!)
That’s it. I promise that if you will invite the Lord to be a part of this time with you and your husband, all Three of you will be blessed. And when you see that God has wonderfully answered these four prayers, don't forget to thank Him. Thank Him for the special time you had with your husband, thank Him for your husband, and thank Him for caring about every detail of your life... even this!
Does it seem strange to pray for and during sex? God created sex within the confines of marriage to be something special and delightful. Proverbs 5:15 says this about a wife and her husband, “May her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love.” Read Song of Solomon sometime if you wonder about God and His plan for our sex lives… it’s pretty steamy and specific.
God is All-Present at all times. This means that when we are enjoying intimate moments with our husbands, God is already there. Why not invite Him to be a part of it, and let Him bless the two of you and Himself through your union?
The next time your Microwave Man gives you “that look”…try this Quick Cook Method and enjoy the creation of sweet fellowship with your husband it will bring.
Blessings to each of you and your marriages, dear Crock Pots, from one Slow Cooker to another~

10 Zesters spoke up:
I am definitely a slow cooker and this is all the encouragement I need to keep praying Phil 2:13 for holy energy and the "want and the will" to do His good pleasure!
You know, as I think about this, this is just great practice for letting the Spirit control ALL aspects of our lives. The more we run to Jesus and invite Him into our state, the stronger we become spiritually. Lots of benefits from using these prayer muscles! As always, thanks for the recipe Jennifer. You are a blessing.
Thank you, Heidi! I love it that you've applied Phil 2:13 in this way. :-)

In addition to prayer to fix your slow cooker body....have a leak in your bathroom and have to live with your parents for a month!!
Living here has showed me how much I really enjoy my husband!!
Oh so very sorry, Jen!!! ;-) I bet when you returned (or return) home, you'll be a quicker cooker! :-)
Jennifer
I'm writing this one down on an index card and putting it in the recipe box! Thank you, Jennifer, for reminding me of this very important thing to pray about.
YES!! This works! And yes, I know this works from experience. ;-)
This is the best recipe I've gotten in a LONG time! Thank you. That's good stuff. I'm printing this one!
