Recipe for Stirring Up a Little More Love

Do you ever have wonderful intentions to love on your husband and to bless him, but you simply run out of time in the day?  I begin most every day with awesome intentions to be a blessing to my husband and children… then by the time they are awake and moving, my “to do list” has overtaken my focus, distractions set in, I become the family task-manager, and somewhere in the busy-ness of the day, those good intentions rarely materialize.  I despise this pattern! So, I am doing two things about it.  1) I am seeking the help of the Lord to change, and 2) I am making a determined effort to transform my actions and reactions in a way that pleases Christ and blesses my family.

I found this list – stored somewhere in my computer documents – under the folder “marriage”.  I honestly have no idea its source.  I wish I did – because I would send a HUGE thank you to its dear writer!  (It could have come from this site – or from one of you??? If so, please let me know and I’ll be delighted to source you..)  It is too good not to share – source or no source.

If you are looking to stir up a little more love into your busy day and if you desire to be a blessing to your husband, here is a list of ingredients to add to your daily “to do list”.  So it won't be overwhelming and unattainable, I’m taking one ingredient a day, adding it to my daily list, and determining to do it in the strength of the Lord, for His glory, and as a blessing to my man.  Want to join me?

A B C's of Being a Help Meet
(Or, as I call it - A Recipe for Stirring up a Little love)
"And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him."  Genesis 2:18

Admit when you  are wrong
Be positive
Cuddle
Do it his way
Encourage him
Fix his breakfast
Give back rubs
Hug often
"I love you" should be said many times daily
Joke around in a playful manner
Know his needs
Listen to him
Manage your home well
Never hold grudges
Open your eyes in the morning and smile
Pray for him
Quit nagging him
Reminisce about good times
Show respect and honor
Trust, and earn his trust
Understand his need for reverence
Vulnerability is a feminine trait; cultivate it
Wink at him!
X is for private times
Yearn to please him
Zealously guard him with your love

Loving our husbands pleases our Lord, so we can confidently apply Philippians 2:13 to the accomplishing of this list:

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”
The desire and the power – to stir up a little more love for our husbands - even in the midst of long and busy days.  This is one slow-cooking, warming up to our husbands recipe that I pray will become a life-long favorite of both his and mine.

Blessings to you from one Slow Cooker to another~

What a great reminder! So often I, too, get caught up in my to-do list and fail to place hubby as the priority.

Jennifer here~ This truly has made a difference in my attitude and actions toward my husband. For some reason, being right there on my "to do" list, I'm driven to do just that!

Blessings to each of you~

Fantastic idea! Will gladly join you, although admittedly some may be easier than others for moi (joking with each other vs. quit nagging him, for instance) :)

I have to report in on this experiment:

It had been a true blessing, and I feel as if I've changed toward my husband - in a great way. I see myself stepping back and considering if what I'm saying or doing will bless and build him up or not - and often I've changed or stopped my planned "words" or "actions".

I'm starting over on the list again. :-)
